About Us

Parasha Bora, a sociology post graduate from Nagaon, Assam, India, is an entrepreneur passionate about sustainability and preserving the heritage of Assamese textiles and jewelry. In 2008, she embarked on a journey into the world of jewelry design, enrolling in specialized courses that paved the way for her to start designing and manufacturing her own unique pieces.

Driven by the belief that jewelry can significantly elevate an outfit, her brand “Parasha Bora” offers both traditional and contemporary designs. Her mission is to preserve the rich heritage of Assamese jewelry while infusing it with innovative designs. Inspired by nature, her collections feature pieces like Junberi (inspired by the half-moon), Dhanshira (inspired by rice grains), and Dhul Pepa (inspired by a ceremonial instrument). Each piece is meticulously handcrafted using hallmarked gold and gemstones by Parasha and her team of six skilled gold and silversmiths.

In 2014, recognizing the need to cater to a wider clientele, she expanded her brand to include a clothing line focused on 100% organic silk with Guna (Zari) using certified pure silk. This line primarily offers customized wedding wear, often featuring Muga silk, the "Queen of Silk". Parasha's commitment to sustainability is reflected in her use of organic materials and her dedication to ethical craftsmanship.

By leveraging the traditional knowledge passed down within her family, she ensures that each piece of jewelry and garment embodies the heritage of Assam while promoting sustainability. This approach honors her family's legacy and fosters a deeper connection to her cultural roots.

Through active participation in meetings, seminars, and government-sponsored training courses, Parasha stays updated on the latest trends and innovations in sustainable fashion. She empowers others by sharing her knowledge and experiences, and her dedication to her craft has been recognized through numerous awards and exhibitions across Assam and India.

Parasha Bora's brand is more than just a business; it's a testament to her commitment to sustainable development and the preservation of Assamese culture. By blending tradition with innovation, she has created a legacy that honors the past while paving the way for a more sustainable future.
